Greetings and Salutation to one and all!
I'm back amongst the land of the living. The last week was a lot of fun, but I didn't get a lot of sleep, read on...
Friday August 6th immediately after work went home to meet up with Jeff and go see his brother Jon and family. Jeff informs me what loverly neighbors I have.. apparently he got there an hour earlier and decided to take a nap, and one of my neighbors thought he was a drunk and called the cops. Jeff woke up to find 3 squad cars surrounding him and cops with weapons drawn giving him the third degree. They were gone when I got there, and we proceeded to drive my car down highway 52 to Rochester, hooking up with I-90 going east. We arrived in Fredonia-Dunkirk 17 hours later, having driven all night long and stopping only for gas.
And Toll Booths.. Jeff was well aware of them and brought a large jar of change. I had forgotten about how nice we in MN have it without these pesky things. Sure, they create jobs and help to pay for the infrastructure (or at least they are supposed to, some of the more expensive tolls had some of the worst roads).
Spent a bit of quality time with Jon and his family, purchased some board games while there War - The Age of Imperalism, and Risk - The Lord of the Rings and played those several times and even got Jon to open his Monopoly- Star Wars Episode I and played that too. Otherwise just had kids climbing all over either me and/or Jeff day and night while Jon and family went about their normal lives.
Then on Friday August 13th, Jon and wife and Jeff and I after dropping off the kids with some of their friends for the weekend drove to Erie, Pennsylvania to some restaurant for dinner before Jeff and I departed. Jon and wife were spending their first weekend alone together in 6 years. After dinner, Jeff and I piled back into my car and off we went, driving all night and only stopping for gas again, this time making the trip in 14 hours this time (I was more comfortable speeding by now). We arrived at 10am, Jeff left at 10:30, I got on the 'puter about 11, made sure I had read a schedule right and a few comments later was out the door.
I hadn't slept in over 30 hours, and after seeing a couple of friends came back home and slept 15 hours... and here I am, full circle.
I haven't had a cigarette in 8 days, but it was easy because I was in an environment I hadn't "smoked in" before, now that I'm back home it'll be a lot tougher...
I missed this site...not being able to get on it, on a daily basis, and now I'm so far behind it'll take all day just to catch up.
