I hate my Life
Las Vegas Part... whatever
I only lived in "the valley" for 3 1/2 years, but I had to do so much growing up there. There's a saying of "Minnesota nice" that I never appreciated untill moving to Las Vegas. There people forget who they are and where they came from (30% of the people that moved there between 1978 and 1995 were from MN). They forget how to drive, they forget what snow and rain are, they just forget.
SO, here I was working at 7-11 (yeah that place again). There was this guy that would come in to wax the floors about once a month, and since he came during the graveyard shift, I got to know him fairly well. He would constantly talk about needing more help. At the time I was working 7 days a week, and with overtime was making what was the equivalent of $12 an hour (based on a 40 hour work week). He would tell me to come work for him, shorter hours and about the same pay. I mistakenly thought he meant that he would start me out at the pay I was making and made the stupid mistake of accepting his offer. 3 weeks later, there I was waxing the floors of the store I used to work in, among others. It was my first night, working alongside a couple other guys. I was talking to them about pay, and come to find out my "new boss" had meant that he would start me out at minimum wage, and eventually get me up to $12 an hour (like in a few years). I quit that night, had a hard time getting another job and ended up filing Chapter 7 Bankruptcy as a result.
I really grew up a lot in Las Vegas.
