Listening to:
I'm BAAAAACK! Did anyone miss me? Yeah, didn't think so. Anyway, after an entirely-too-long stint away from suicidegirls (due to various computer issues), I've returned. And JUST in time to talk about my time at the SF pride parade.
Now, this was my first year, so I wasn't sure what to expect except for lots of, well, gay people and pride (go figure), and of course, some sprinkled in nudity (my friend and I were playing where is waldo with the naked folk. I found five, he found six...though one of them was wearing a sork of fishnet I guess, so I'm not sure that that counts...) I knew a few people who were going to be in the parade from my work (my family owns a fabric store, and we sold lots of the crazy ass fabrics for the crazy ass costumes in the parade), and I wanted to see what they made (which were quite fabulous-crazy).
Now, I'm not gay, but for me to be there and see the overwhelming support for the gay community, as well as all the celebration over the recent victory in NY, made me proud to be from the SF bay area. Sadly, I didn't take pictures for you all. I was pretty well entranced by the bright and sparkly things that passed before my eyes, and didn't think to take a single photo. Anyway, if ya haven't already, google up some pictures, because no words can quite describe the amazing celebration that is Pride.
One disappointing thing was that I learned that Tegan Quinn was chilling at one of the booths, and I didn't know before it was too late to say hi. Woulda been cool to meet her (I'm a total T&S fanboy).
Sorry that the post isn't glittering off the screen with vivid descriptions of the sights and sounds, but my mind is a bit boggy tonight. Been trying to quit taking in so much caffeine, so I've been a tad tired and had headaches lately. Guess that's the price for drinking multiple Monsters a day since my Sophmore year in high school...
A quick update about me:
I've just bought a turntable and started collecting vinyl, so if anyone in the SF area knows of good record shops, let me know. So far I've only been to Amoeba (which was AMAZING) and this little place in Modesto called Salty's.
I bought a new computer!!! (hence my return to SG) It's an HP with beats audio, i5 processor, 17" screen, 8g ram, a 1gig radeon graphics card (more than enough for what I need... the only gaming I do are old strategy games like AOE2, Rome: Total War, and Empire Earth), a huge-ass battery, and lots of other awesomeness. I love it.
I've been reading like a mofo these last few months, and am currently reading through the second book of GRRM's "A Song of Fire and Ice". After this, I might read the last book of the Millenium Trilogy, or maybe Chuck Klosterman IV...or maybe something artsy or historic... also, I want to read a good bio of Elvis.
Anyhow, I've rambled enough for one night. I'm truly glad to be back.
