So Long Marianne
Come over to the window, my little darling, I'd like to try to read your palm. I used to think I was some kind of Gypsy boy before I let you take me home.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know you'll say "you'll be back" and all that crap, but it's a lot different when you have to enter a credit card number to do that. So yes, I'm not going to be renewing my account come June whatever when it expires.
Well you know that I love to live with you, but you make me forget so very much. I forget to pray for the angels and then the angels forget to pray for us.
Now, I'd like to thank you kids for accepting me with open arms and showing me a good time. You're a good lot and I'm sure I'll see you around on the outside. It's just that I don't really feel that this is the right place for me to be right now.
We met when we were almost young deep in the green lilac park. You held on to me like I was a crucifix, as we went kneeling through the dark.
If you're curious about how my life in general is going, it's going terribly well. Work is moving along quite nicely. Stability has made its way in. They say I'm cheerier than I've been since graduation.
Oh, you are really such a pretty one. I see you've gone and changed your name again. And just when I climbed this whole mountainside, to wash my eyelids in the rain!
As Little Amber said once to me a long, long time ago, "Hearts and stars from afar!" It was a lot cuter in 1998, I guess.
Oh so long, Marianne, it's time that we began ...
