What makes some cities more creative than others?

In my hometown , New Orleans, musical talent flourishes while other forms creativity lag. I do not consider new orleans a creative city because of this. Dallas would like to be a creative capital but in truth it is a business oriented city with an expectation of shared protestant evangelical religious values.

Creativity blossoms is places where people of differing classes and backgrounds bounce off of one another. it blossoms where people feel a since of freedom to be themselves with less fear of social disapproval. It rises in places that are less restrictive in sexual expression. Places where ideas are thrown around, poked, and stretched , to see if they will take flight.

It flourishes in places where it is almost expected that people have the right to assert themselves as indivuals and not as cookiecutter imitations of their neighbors. it flourishes where blues jeans Ere not worn like a uniform for everything.

It also flourishes in those places where there is great pain of deprevation and poverty, often right along side wealth and privilege.
