To All of YOU, the ULTRA LUSCIOUS:
I have created a new project called RADIO COBALT. Over the last few years, I've collaborated with multiple bands on over 350 songs, all of which have been gathering dust, as I lingered in artistic semi-retirement. Simply put, I've been expending the majority of my energy in other very productive and excellent areas of my life for the past few years. But now it comes time to bring the ..:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />ART forward again, big time. With RADIO COBALT, I'm effectively re-launching my art upon the world. Starting on Jan 1 2008, I'll release one song per week, free for download, for as long as I see fit (I'm aiming to do 52 songs over 2008. I don't have anything to sell, I just want to get my art and music out to the world and heard.
After much deliberation, I have decided that the best place to start this is MYSPACE. Some of you probably hate myspace, but it's got some features, as well as high visibility and traffic which make it very appealing to me. Plus some of the key players in my "inner circle" are already there, so it's a good place to consolidate communication on this project.
I created a new MYSPACE page for it:
http://www.myspace.com/radiocobalt
I've posted 3 songs to whet your appetite, from 3 of the different bands I've associated with : THE FLAT ASTRONAUTS, the TOMBSTONE TEETH and the EL MAXIMO QUARTET. Though I did say yes to the option that should enable to you to download them to your IPODs, the feature does not seem to be working. So come Jan 1 2008, when I launch a new song every week, I will probably provide a link to my main website www.cwcobalt.com where you'll also be able to download the song for free. I will post a RADIO COBALT blog for each song that lists the credits along with some commentary.
If you are not already on MYSPACE, I'd encourage you to join up (it's free). Operate under a pseudonym if you want to avoid the sordid ghosts from your past, and web cam spamming vixens. In this battle to revive my artistic soul, I would encourage you to leave comments frequently on the RADIO COBALT main page or my blog. Sometimes I feel like I'm creating in a vacuum and wonder if anyone out there is listening; so I bristle with joy when I see a comment!
For those of you who are actual musicians that I've collaborated with, I REALLY urge you to get a myspace musician account. You'll be able to post your latest music and your gig dates. I'm looking to build a community, especially of musical partners. Eventually I'll be setting up a RADIO COBALT group where we can have a bulletin board to trade off and develop ideas and projects.
Also take a look at my "friends" on the Radio Cobalt page. Many of them are bands or musicians that have inspired me or have inspired the bands that I've been affiliated with.
Enjoy this preview of 3 songs -- the project will launch officially on Jan 1.
Finally, please forward this to anyone you know who likes bizarre music!! Again, I have nothing for sale, I just want people to hear and be entertained by music that I've co-created.
