I went to the IMAX theater at Providence Place for the first time. I am a sucker for anything to do with the space program, so I had to go see "Magnificent Desolation" - the Tom Hanks project about the experience of the astronauts who landed on the moon.
Although the film, for obvious reasons, had a large amount of material aimed squarely at kids, the sequences that recreated the moon landings were amazing to view. IMAX 3D is vastly more realistic than the old blue/red glasses style I experienced for the first time in the mid-1980s when I saw Jaws 3-D (a classic!).
Plus, I got to meet the man whose name graces every other building and/or bus placard in the city: Alan Shawn Feinstein.
