At the Art Fair, on the Diag, I stumbled across the "Eyes Wide Open" installation -- boots of all the dead U.S. soldiers in Iraq (and many shoes for Iraqi civilians, including children, too). They were reading the names of the dead one by one. I cried as I took photos.
What a fucking waste. All these young men and women--and grandparents and grandchildren-- destroyed...and for what? For some idiots' idea that Iraq would welcome being an American satellite state. Now we've got the war the Bushies wanted, and this field of boots will grow much much bigger unless we do something to stop it now.
I couldn't even go back to the crowds of fat suburbanites weaving their way through boots of crappy "art." I felt nauseous the rest of the day.
