I was placing an ad in a campus publication yesterday-- a help wanted ad for a research assistant for the summer. The young woman taking the ad typed it and then showed me her monitor to see if it read properly. In the corner of her screen was a small messenger chat box and a message in it said:
"Thanks for the e-mail, slut. I'll get back to you."
It stayed up there the whole time I was looking at the screen. She didn't bother to close it out.
I didn't say anything though I thought of several things I MIGHT say. But none of them seemed appropriate.
When I left, I didn't say, "Thank you, slut."
Should I have?
