So, recently i have become more interested in improving my guitar playing. If i had to add it up, I've been playing ON AND OFF for about 5 years, so nothing to hardcore. I have to say it's more of a hobby or a vent seeing i don't have all day to play, but i try to fit in a half an hour a day.
I never learned any songs, never felt the need too but I'm starting to realize i might have to. I mean I've learned bits and pieces of a few songs but never fully learned them all the way through and never practiced them, so now i can't even play them.
I always do my own thing and just fiddle around with the guitar. But I've been getting frustrated because i always seem to get "stuck" or "writers block". I'll come up with a short catchy riff or lick and take it no where and usually I'll play it over and over and over and NO ONE likes repetitive music or riffs (hence why i wear headphones)
But I'm really interested in take my ability further but not sure where to go or how to go about it. I can sit and watch Youtube all day but still doesn't teach me what I'm looking for, but there are good tips and such.
But i was wonder if anyone out in the SG world that plays guitar or has mad skills, if they/you would give me your suggestions, ideas, or input on how one (such as i) can improve.
I've been thinking "maybe I'm not cut out to play guitar" or "maybe I'm not creative enough" and i really hate to see this come true.
I've even thought about making Vlogs or posting short videos of myself playing, just to be critiqued.
So if you would, please fill me in?

What's up bro was flippin thru the site and came across this. I ve been playin bass guitar and guitar since I was 15. And sadley enough im friggin 30 now(goes by quick) andwhat got me started was seeing cliff burton the original bass player from metallica solo his ass off on the video cliff em all after that I went nuts learning as much as I could. There's alot of music out there to check out and learn and not even necessarily listen to that's really challenging to play. I got to a point where I was bored playing metal and rock but still loved and still dolove it. I guess what im saying is challenge your abilities constantly it makes it more interesting and more enjoyable. I like to learn alot of classical stuff cuz its so amazing to learn and it kicks the shit out of you but when your done with the piece your like fuck yeah! And I can't really listen to it on the radio its kinda boring, however if u hear a certain part u like u can lay it down on the fretboard and it sounds musical and sick. Playing along with songs u like will help develop ur speed, timing etc. I used to play along with iron maiden, metallica etc and it helped me bigtime. Gotta see what works for you. Good luck
