I just had a friend ask me to go on a climbing trip to Virgin Gorda, BVI next month to go climbing. They are shooting a climbing movie. Oh I want to go so badly. I wish I didn't have to work and I could just drop everything and go. I'd be in paradise.
On another note, Burmilla's latest blog got me thinking. I watched Babel last night which probably didn't help. We're so lucky to be living where we do and there are so many places in the world that have such miserable conditions. I saw Hotel Rwanda (the move Burmilla was talking about that spurred this train of thought) months ago and it made me so angry, the conditions they endured and how little the western countries were willing to do. Then today in the NY Times there was an article titled "Diamonds Move From Blood to Sweat and Tears" New York Times . It's about how we have moved away from the Blood Diamond trade to a more slave labor trade where people are making $1.00 or less per day to work for diamond traders. Some of the people get paid by the diamond so if they don't find anything they get paid nothing. And when they do find diamonds the traders take advantage of them and pay them next to nothing for the diamonds. What a rotten racket. It just makes me more angry.
Ok, I'll get off my soap box and stop preaching. I'm going to go for a run and just enjoy the outdoors.
