imagine your whole body wrapped in very thin silver wire, imagine the backs of your knees turning purple, your saliva solidifying.

whatever they told you was a severe overstatement, just because you are intelligent or creative or intuitive or beautiful or multitalented does not mean life will be any easier for you. they should have told you you had room to grow. you could have used the criticism.

if only that morning walk through the field was longer, every footstep down causing an explosion of grasshoppers, moths and butterflies, then maybe something would line up correctly and i could see something that hasn't occurred to me. if i purposely make it longer whatever wonderful thing MIGHT happen will be scared away. i have a feeling i am onto something.

think of a time when you woke up during the night disoriented. recall the point where you recognized your surroundings.

sew all these fragments together and end up back where you started, unaffected, unmoved, and disinterested.



so i signed my lease yesterday. amazingly enough the closet is big enough to hold all my shoes.
