I have been in a relationship for the better part of almost 4 years. We have had our times apart, however they were few and far between. When I would awake I could not wait to visit. Almost everyday on the way to work I would stop by, maybe just for a few minutes, and other times I would stay for about an hour. It really depended on what my needs were. Sometimes, I would even stop by on the way home, if I really needed it that bad. People would sometimes ask, why not at my home, and I would respond, "sometimes, I would take it back home, other times I just didnt want to do it myself, everyone knows it is easier for someone else to do it", but most of the time it could not wait so I would in the car. I even remember one time I even had it at work. Everyone was so surprised, but I did not care one bit.
Well, it abruptly came to a halt a few days ago. I am still really annoyed at it, pretty miffed at the way it happened actually.
Just another week it seemed... Monday I stopped by in the morning. Did what I had to do, and left. Tuesday, I was running a bit late, so I did not have a chance to stop in , or even after work for that fact. Maybe that is what did it. Maybe I neglected at the wrong time. Wednesday, I stopped in, after deciding to stay a while longer than normal, I saw a few other people as well, people I had not seen in a while. We were all after the same thing I guess, maybe some differences, but really wanted the same thing. Girls, guys, old men, old women, even police, it did not matter. I guess we were all "customers" And I will tell you one thing, they sure had the staff to satisfy us all, at the same time!!!!
So , when I took my normal seat, Abby, brought my orange juice to the table without even asking. She already had even placed my order for me, without me even needing to prompt her. The service was excellent as usuall. I read about 4 pages of the days newspaper. She brought over my breakfast. We chatted about noting in particular, just regular stuff I guess. i could even tell who was on the grill that dy, it must of been Frank, because he always arranged the eggs on the left side of the plate, while Jimmy arranged it on the right. Just all the little things really about this place. If I was in a rush, maybe I would jut get a sandwhich, which was always excellent. On the way home from work or maybe before going into the city I woud stop for a burger and fries, maybe even an order of mozzarella sticks..oh, the mozz sticks, never ever under or over cooked, always just right , on a bed of lettuce and served with marinara.
So anyway, back to wednesday morning, This lady, who always seems to order french toast, wth powdered sugar on them, was sitting across from me. SHe must have been in a rus, she didnt even finish her meal. She had requested the check at the outset, so maybe she knew she wouldnt have time to wait for one of the waitresses to bring it over. She told abby"see you later" and abby replied, in her normal chipper "greek accent" Ok, you havea nicea day too miss" Nothing out of the ordinary. Or so it seemed. I finished my meal and left for work.
Thursday morning, I knew I would have jury duty, so I figured I would stop in early, have a large breakfast to hold me over until who knows when. Well I pulled into the parking lot, and it was empty.. weird, maybe i was jsut early and beat the rush. I walked up to the front door, and two signs were posted. One wich was rather large , held up against one of the windows said in large letters "CLOSED". Another read "TOday is our last Day, We close at 4PM." But wait it was the day after I guess. If it was 7:00AM and the sign says they close at 4PM, that means Wednesday was he last day. Why didnt anyone ever tell me, Was i just obliviuos to it. Why didnt anyone ever tell me. No hints. No nothing. Everything was fully stocked still in the refrigerator cases, as i peered into te windows, thinking it was some type of joke. I am still not sure, I walked past again today jsut to make sure. Maybe a re-model, maybe some type of holiday? No one seems to know. Other passerby'seem jsut as cnfused as I am.
So, still not being sure, I gues thats it for Jimmy, Frank, Joe, Abby, the other waitress who I never knew her name, but knew she got married and what school she went to , etc. all these people......just gone..........
Now, the question for you is, how far did you get , before you knew what I was talking about?
I was gonna give you my jury duty story, but that shall wait a few days, as this turned into a rather long and creative entry.
