Well the New Year is upon us, and it's time to lie to yourself and resolve to do something you know you aren't going to do , but feel like you have to come up with something to say to everyone who asks. So this year I'm giving up soda.
*Gasp* Yes, I'm giving up my beloved Dr Pepper. I've been an addict for 12 years now, and it's time to give it up. I was up to 18 cans a day around Halloween and it struck me when I took the recycling out one morning that that was absurd. Add that up and that's almost $5.00 a day on Dr. Pepper! Good gods no wonder I'm developing a 'beer gut'. With out drinking beer mind you.
Sure a couple years ago I could drink and eat what I wanted to, I was walking the mile and a half to work every day, and the five or so miles I'd walk while at work. Then there were the weekends where I'd practically kill myself running around the woods wearing chainmail and carrying a sword and shield. (Larping).
What changed? I got married, moved closer to work, started driving to work, got promoted and moved to a new department, and stopped running through the woods all weekend. That and I'm thirty! Holy Christ I'm thirty!! When did this happen?!?
I don't want my five year old to be able to out run me when we start T-ball this spring. So good bye Dr. Pepper, we had a good run but it's time to say adios.
