So..............I have been training to audition for Music Conservatories for the last year or so, and the applications are due in a month. I am in a bit of a freak out (in a good way) to get all my materials together. I knew that time would fly by, but this is really coming soon, and I feel like I have so much work to do. It really is a lot to have on my plate, but I love the pressure at the same time. The schools are extremely competitive, and top notch. My playing is at the best level that it has ever been, and I am excited to see what happens. This could be determining the next few years of my life, and also get me out of Southern California. We'll see what happens........
On another note, I just read "The Fingersmith" by Sarah Waters, and it was fantastic. I didn't really know what it was going to be about going into it, and was pleasantly surprised by most of my currently favorite topics: victorian goth, dominance and submission, depravity, corsets, victorian pornography referrence, and the art of gentile conversational manipulation. (the kind where words have many hidden meanings) I enjoy her writing style, and the character development was amazing. It was around 600 pages long, and I didn't want it to end. I got so sucked in that I read it in 3-4 days. This is a good one...........I highly recommend it.
Also, I am going to see KMFDM play this weekend. >>too excited for words!!
and Halloween is coming up.
and my birthday is coming up too!!!
(p.s. - my Halloween costume is awesome...........it is a 1940's woman's army outfit. A three piece suit consisting of a fitted suit coat, flared knee-length skirt, and blouse. It even came with the hat. It is authentic and from the 40's, and fits me perfectly........one of those thrift store finds that was meant just for you. I am so excited, and will even wear it to school. Maybe now my students will be afraid to talk during class. hah. yah right. pictures coming soon.........)
So many things happening..............it is an exciting time. yee-ha!
