So, I had yet another good weekend. In fact, one might call it great. My friend had a space-themed birthday party on friday................and the three things I learned are these:
1. Tin-foil can make anything look like an outer-space outfit
2. I think everyone has something space-themed in their closet, they just don't always notice. (or, atleast something that should be sent into space, never to return again)
3. A light-up dagger can really take the edge off of being stuck in traffic. (yah, we were brandishing light-up daggers at all the cars we were stuck next to on the way up their, and yelling "i'll cut you", or just yelling) I think if everyone did this, there would be less road-rage related accidents.
here's my star whores themed costume:
Then, Saturday, a friend and I had the idea to go to the beach and camp over night. Well, apparently a lot of other people get the same idea on the weekend during the summer. Every campground we stopped at was full, and I couldn't think of any beach places to go that weren't packed. So we spent 5 hours driving, and being stuck in traffic, and were starting to get very frustrated. Then I suggested that we just stop in Solstice Canyon, and have a picnic, and chill for a little bit while traffic was dying down. This place is beautiful, and it was that time of day when the lighting is perfect for a photo shoot. I've always wanted to take naked pics in the forest, and well, one thing led to another, and then we end up with this picture (and some others which I will not be posting. sorry guys):
after a very, um, long hike..........we decided to head back to long beach via PCH. While we were driving, lightning was streaking across the sky over the ocean. So we pulled the car over, sat on the rocks, and watched the lightning storm. There is almost never lighning, or thunder here in California. But it has been so humid lately, I knew it had to be coming. Lightning/thunder are my favorite weather conditions, and it was so amazing to be watching it rip across the sky and down into the ocean. I'm not sure we would have gotten to see this if we went camping. So my belief was confirmed that although things don't always turn out how you want them to, if you are open to experience, amazing things can happen. The day had such a happy ending after all.
The next morning (Sunday), I mad a bitchin tofu scramble, and watched Murderball. For those of you who haven't seen this documentary, it is very good. (thunder was rumbling outside while we were watching it) Then, we decided to try to go cayaking over in naples, figuring that it would be cool, no matter what the weather. Well, the sun came out, and we went paddling with some sangria. It doesn't get much better than that. So, while it would have been great to shack up on the beach for a few days, I am so happy with the way it turned out. It ended up being a very special couple of days. And I will be camping on the beach, but maybe we'll try for during the week this time.

It sure looks like you know what to do with summer days and nights! ^^
