Ok, so all my pics from Comic Con have been posted.
It was a blast as usual.
So here's the quick rundown of things...
Wednesday
My buddy Anthony and I drove down to San Diego. We got a later start than we wanted to because his job made him work. As a result, we got there too late for premiere night. So we went straight to our friends' place where we were staying and hung out with them for the rest of the evening.
Thursday
We got off to our early start, but there weren't any panels that caught our eye that day, so we wandered around the vender floor, bumped into friends, and just had a good time. The Westboro Baptist Church decided they wanted to protest Comic Con because they considered us all idolaters, worshipping comic book icons over God. Well, people at the con got wind of this and decided to do an anti-protest to show them how rediculous they looked. The funny part was that they only had 4 people in their group while Comic Con had basically a mob. It was quite amusing to see... especially since we had the Buddy Christ on our side.
Later, we got together with a couple of old highschool buddies of mine who I hadn't seen in years for lunch. It was great catching up with them.
After our full day we headed over to the train station to pick up Anthony's girlfriend and his son.
Friday
Got another early start. I sat in an X-Man panel. It got me wanting to collect comics again. Need to fight that urge, since I stopped because I was spending $20 a week on them. I also sat in on the Sparticus: Blood and Sand panel. It was WAY too entertaining. There is soooo much sex and nudity in that show that the audience was filled with pervs and they were asking questions that were making the actresses blush. It felt like I was hanging out in V&E chat.
Other than that, there was much walking around because most of the panels I wanted to get in filled up pretty quick. There was a HUGE promotion going on for The Walking Dead tv show that starts up soon. There were people made up like zombies, staggering around handing out stuff. But the funny part was their reaction trying not to bust out laughing when they say Anthony's son's bib saying "Zombie Snack" with an arrow pointing up. I had to get a picture of him with the zombies.
Saturday
Much more of a crowd this day. I was so stoked to get into the Zombies In Fiction panel. That was a lot of fun listening to all the authors crack jokes about each other. And Max Brooks, even though he doesn't intend to be, is a really funny guy.
After that, I made my way down to the vender floor and met James Marsters. He was WAY cool. We chatted a bit about his character on Torchwood and his hoping they bring his character back when they bring back the series. I fully agree.
Then I went to the Warehouse 13 and Eureka panels. Those casts are always a good time. And now the shows are going to start doing some crosssovers. This can only be awesome.
Later that night, we got together with our movie group friends for dinner and then we all went back to the convention center to watch the Masquerade. This was a total train wreck. There were some cool costumes, but there were others where you could only ask "What the fuck were you thinking?"
Sunday
I didn't get there in time to get in the one last panel I wanted to see, so this pretty much became the usual Sunday event of wrapping up any searching for interesting stuff to buy. Also, I bought my passes for myself and the girlfriend for next year. Then we hit the road for the long traffic plagued drive home.
Now I'm back to real life and trying to play catch up at work. That and sooo very tired. Need to catch up on some rest and keep working on getting things ready for the girlfriend to move in.
