Yesterday we celebrated Sarahs birthday. I started by visiting Deep Discount DVD to buy stuff for me. I purchased blu-ray Pinocchio, my first blu-ray purchase, and Viva Las Vegas starring Elvis and Ann Margret. When Chris asked what I bought I described Viva as the We gotta win this race movie. No, really. This is the movie Eddie Murphy refers to in Delirious. So two musicals.
Sarahs birthday started with Ice Skating. I hadnt skated in about 8 years so was a bit out of practice but had my skating legs back after an hour. Didnt fall except when trying to practice skating backwards or showing one of our first time skaters how to get up. It was fun. There were about 10 of us for this leg.
Afterwards pizza at Braconis Italian Restaurant in Naperville. We had reserved a private room which turned out to be the Pradel room. George Pradel is Napervilles mayor and the room was filled with Pradel memorabilia. All you can eat pizza, salad and soda served buffet style. More showed up and we had 18-20 for dinner.
We were there early and the room was late so we went to Binnys where Jason made purchases for another wine tasting (The Winening) and got to see expensive french wines - 86 and 89 Latours for about $600. He didnt buy any. I was tempted to buy an 02 Dom for $125 but decided it wasnt worth it. Larry found an expensive Lobster Ale which I gladly split with him in the hopes it was somehow lobstery. It wasnt. I was a good red ale but not worth $2 a bottle.
After, to Chris and Sarahs for Cake and board games. Played scrabble against Kerry who crushed me (and kibitzed Jon into 2nd place!) We had all made Apples to Apples cards for her birthday and she read them off. Chris prepared lots of food for afterwards but afterwards was after dinner so most of it was untouched until late in the evening. They made swedish meatballs and I paired them with the Tostitos scoop chips which were the perfect size to hold the meatball but apart from the cute presentation the pairing wasnt anything special.
F**K Boston!
Greg Titus had his going away party yesterday as well. When I left Chris and Sarahs I debated making it but hit a particularly nasty bit of construction on 88 which reduced traffic to 1 lane and went 10 mph so I just went home.

Worked in McHenry Illinois last thursday and friday. McHenry is 30 miles directy NW from me and maybe 50 miles north of Naperville/Aurora. On my way back friday I decided to not follow the client back to the office to make my way home but take the route I had worked out in my head. I missed my turn but ended up finding Algonquin (62) in Algonquin and made it back by following that to Woodfield which meant a trip to Blicks and Mitsuwa. New Pinky mint flavors: Strawberry-Banana and Lemon-Orange-Soda. Mmmmm. There was a bbq place and seafood place at the intersection of 62 and 31 that I would like to try if I ever get out that way again.
So Say We All!
Battlestar Galactic round 2 is done. It had a cryptic ending similar to B5 and Im wondering if Ill still appreciate BSG 10 years from now. I still like B5 but Farscape and various Treks hold a warmer spot in my heart. Well see.
I See You!
I have a web cam now. Stickam and Skype have been activated.
I Think Im Turning Japanese!
I really think so. Japan Nite this tuesday (3/24) Japan Nite at the Empty Bottle! Go!
