Well this update isn't going to be so cheery...I've been meaning to post about this but I had to think about it for a few days...one of my thirteen year old little sister's friends tried to hang herself a little over a month ago outside of their school. It was a suicide pact with another girl but the other girl freed herself and ran to go call for help. Fortunately the paramedics arrived in time and freed her so that she was still alive but because her brain was without oxygen for so long she was comatose. She stayed @ the hospital for several weeks and was seemingly doing better but then died on Monday. It's always hard to see someone with so much life ahead of them throw it all away because of temporary problems or feelings. I remember this girl, she was always quiet and sweet and my mother was friends with her father who always seemed very loving. It's also hard to see my little sister so distraught and in pain because of all of this. I thought 18 was young for someone to take their own life, but 13? It breaks my heart and opens old scars from Allison's death. I only hope that even with what they so selfishly did that they're all in a better place now. And to all the parents out there...hold fast to your children, know them well, ask questions...they'll hate you, kick, scream, yell, and fight but they'll thank you for it one day...I say this because there can only be few greater pains in this world than that of the loss of your child.
