Speaking of pimping, i'm involved with this youtube video project where we riff on old short movies a la MST3K (Mystery Science Theater 3000). My first project with them was this short....
Part 1
Part 2
I did some writing for it. If you like it, please go ahead and comment on it over at youtube. iI's pretty silly, but all in good fun. I think it's fucking hilarious myself, but i'm rather biased. It's funnier if you stoned I guess, then again so is everything. Or so i'm told.
And your reward for sitting through all that is a front row seat to R.E.M's Rock Hall of Fame Induction Performance Ceremony performance (that was a mouthful)...
Gardening At Night
Begin The Begin
Man on the Moon w/Eddie Vedder
I Wanna Be Your Dog - w/Patti Smtih
I watched the entire three hours of coverage on VH1 classic live, and after sitting through tons of so-so performances (Grand Master Flash was ok, but the whole Velvet Revolver and Van Halen drama was a waste of time) these guys lit it up for me.
I am amazed at how tight and driving they are after all these years, especially playing some of their older songs. Peter Buck is on my Mt. Rushmore of guitar gods. He's criminally underrated. And Mike Mills is the uber-nerd-rockstar. And Michael Stipe is god.
