I just watched Real Women Have Curves today. I was expecting it to be heavy-(no pun intended)-handed and self-serving. But it was on and I was bored and so I watched the first 20 minutes as I ate my late lunch. It was a little slow at the beginning, but George Lopez was in it and he's funny so I kept watching. The movie is just as much about the garment industry as it is about self-image. I just took two courses on minority women, both dealing with, among other things, the garment industry. The movie was surprisingly good. It got 3 stars on the guide, and I think that's a pretty fair rating. It wasn't awesome, but it definitely wasn't crap.
And when America Ferrera took her shirt off
In other news, my knee is getting stronger. I can stand on guard as well as lunge (though not at full speed). I think I am going to sign up for the beginning fencing class again (and school all the n00bs) so I can get back in condition.
