i went up to edmonton to visit my friend chris yesterday. i got a ride up with my dad at 4am and kicked around the 104th Ave tim hortons until the LRT opened and i could get to his house. a crazy drunk man kept asking to buy me coffee. i politely, but firmly, declined. i figure i should be nice to the old crazies, as i will likely join their ranks one day.
i spent the afternoon biking around the city with chris looking at little markets and shops. i got new tea. i ended up riding a army green womens 3-speed bicycle complete with basket straight out of 1962 that belongs to his girlfriend. it was fan-fucking-tastic. apart from having to walk it up every hill that lasted more than 10 feet
then we went to the folk fest and wandered and listened and took pictures of his chia head for a cbc contest.
and then we biked home and got caugt in a massive thunderstorm in the river valley and it was awesome. all you could see were trees and rain and it felt like we were in the tropical jungles of brazil or something.
and tomorrow i get on a plane to depart for land of sun and seafood.
life is good.
i will be back in about a week.
also: i made myself a shirt to save me effort when telling people to leave me the hell alone while travelling:
