So got a new puppy today. And wow what a crazy ordeal it has been to get him. From paying for the dog over a month ago to shady breeders to the district attorney to spending today in court, now I finally have the dog. Let me take a step back and fill in the gaps.
Six months ago I got my first Pomeranian named Sir Carlton. He's an awesome dog but alas I could tell he was bored roaming the apartment by himself. So, I decided to get him a little brother to be his playmate. Went back to his breeders to find a rambunctious little guy to be his companion. Found the perfect second pom. Paid for the perfect second pom. Then decided to leave the perfect pom number 2 with the seemingly not-sketchy breeders. As my landlord doesn't allow more than 1 pet, I knew I had some wheeling and dealing to do .
Ok flash forward, anyone catch the news reports on the "Dana Point Puppy Mill scandal"? The one about the OC sheriffs busting into a quiet suburban home and seizing 35 sick puppies from a hidden, windowless room in the attic? Well, I got a call last Monday from the Dana Point animal control to tell me that they think they may have custody of my puppy. So yeah, it turns out those breeders they arrested were the breeders I bought both of my dogs from.
At this point, you might assume that I'm the victim so they're just going to give me my puppy back and in return I will thank them profusely for saving him from those terrible conditions... Well, it wasn't that simple...Add over a week of talking to lawyers and going to court, and then you have an accurate picture.
But, I finally got my dog today so I'm stoked on that. Check out his pics in my pics folder.

P.S. Sadly, I received some bad news to go along with the happy new puppy. Got a call from the vet to let me now that Sir Carlton (puppy #1) needs $2600 in surgery to fix a birth defect that the breeders lied to me about. Go fucking figure. What really pisses me off is that these crooks led me to believe that they were legit, and truly cared about the dogs they bred. I can't stand animal cruelty and this seems to be one of the worst kinds. Luckily, these assholes have over 50 counts of animal abuse/cruelty against them, so they are gonna be put away for a long time.
P.P.S. Don't worry about the other puppies that were seized from the breeders home...They are all being adopted by very nice families.
