so my life has been a whirl wind of excitement and indulgence (not strictly related to but heavily influenced by my birthday). so here it goes...
i have seen two broadway shows. 1) the history boys. it was their last performance on broadway. the show was closing after 6 months, there is a movie coming out next month. it was really great. you could tell the actors were doing out of character and inner joke stuff to eachother. the end was very emotional as well. people crying and saying thank you to the audience. really something special.
2) martin short's fame becomes me. a one man show (well he had about 5 supporting actors) but it was his lifes story. now i am not a huge martin short fan or even a small one BUT the show was good. funny, entertaining, relavent. guilty pleasure of mine - jimminy glick. love his questions and mannerisms. they pulled gilbert godfree (sp?) on stage for the interview. he just happened to be watching the show that evening. all improv and ad lib and it was great. funny shit.
i went to 2 rocks shows!!! first one was THE SECRET MACHINES at Irving plaza. It was an interesting show because it was a "stage in the round". very shakespearean. great sound, a tad loud but the drummer was really fun to watch (prob. since he moved the most).
the second show was TOOL at nassau colliseum. this was their last show in the states before heading over to europe. i totally dug the new light show. keenan's cowboy get up was a little funny for me but then again he is fucking amazing and can do whatever the fuck he wants. seriously, i have never see a band that can completely and faithfully reproduce their album. not that the point of going to a live show is to just hear the album, of course you want to see the band change the songs up, jam, have fun. but TOOL sounded amazing. dana carey has to be one of the best drummers out there.
and so to top the week off i jumped out of a plane. at 13,500 feet. backwards. doing flips. with my mom. and sister. it was amazing. a life surge. i have never felt more alive. my mortaliy was flying at me at 130 mph. i loved it. i jumped in calverton, long island (about 15 min. from my house) over the old gruman airforce field. i could see both shores and the bay. great fruckin scenary. so here is where i went - SKYDIVING.
and to finish off i am going to see joan jett and eagles of death metal tonight!
later.
p.s.- been on the wagon for a week.
