This is my 4th photography blog. Last week I and @mikhailveter went to the Rock Gym to shoot!
I and Mikhail started doing different art projects together and we came up with that idea since I am a passionate rock climber myself. Unfortunately it is way too cold in Pennsylvania right now to climb outside so I asked the gym staff to use the rock gym for a shoot. It is all about networking since we run or projects low budget - high creativity :)
I have been climbing for about 4 years and climbing has becoming a passion of mine, something I don’t want to miss in my life. I do mostly bouldering outdoors.
It is a challenging, exciting sport which requires problem solving skills, figuring out complex movements and sequences, using your whole body. So it is basically a whole body workout and your goal is to climb harder routes, hold onto smaller holds and do crazier moves. I used to compete some back in Sweden on a local level and was best female climber once at the gym I was going to. I got first in touch with climbing in 2010 in an internship for my studies in which I had to organize outdoor adventure school trips. I was back then not very athletic or fit at all, quite chubby to be honest. Climbing is something for everyone, it is so unique/unusual that people, no matter how fit they are, usually start very easy and then gradually get better. So I literally climbed my way up!
For the pictures I had to hold the position quite long so that was challenging, you also have to keep in mind to not cover a part of your body with another and do rather stretched out moves than being all crouched up. Mikhail again nailed the light and the angles perfectly! We also shot some more glamorous and some more athletic/sporty photographs since Mikhail’s background is ‘Glam Nude’. So combining such a guy dominated powerful sport with a touch of glamour was a lot of fun! @missy @charmaine @lyxzen @rambo
