I might be related to the Bushes. Yes, those Bushes.

Barbara Bush's maternal grandmother was named Lula Dell Flickenger from a Byhalia, Ohio (which no longer exists and I haven't yet found where it was).

I'm going to have to check with my sister, but I believe my mom's paternal grandmother was a Flickinger. From Ohio. So George W. Bush could be as close as my fourth cousin.

Weird.

Update: I called my grand-aunt Pat and she's working on it. She has to dig out the geneaology books, and it going to get back to me.

Awesome story about Aunt Pat. She's personal friends with many of the Cashes. Yes, those Cashes. She is acquainted with Rosanne and other Cash progeny. One of June's daughters gave her a pearl bracelet that belonged to June. She doesn't know if it's actually worth anything, whether it's just costume jewelry or real pearls or whatnot. But she loves it. She said she's going to make me the heir to all of her Cash memerobilia in her will. So I get the Victrola from Grandma, and the Cash stuff from Aunt Pat. Good haul!
