Ok, I have to address a topic that many of you may find hits very very close to home.
Body modification in every day society.
I work as a professional piercer in a college town in Ames, Iowa. I take my job very seriously and I love everything about altering any person's body to be more visually appealing to them.
WHO THE FUCK DO YOU THINK YOU ARE JUDGING THESE PEOPLE FOR THEIR APPEARANCE?!
On what planet is it ever going to be okay to decide what any one person should or should not look like, what anyone should or should not do to their own body to make them feel more beautiful?
Now I myself have over 40 body piercings and somewhere along the lines of 70 hours of tattoo work. What about my appearance makes me less of a person? What about the way I look makes people think it is okay to judge my parenting, life, intellect, etc. based solely on the fact that I am modified?
I open doors for the elderly. I say please and thank you. I was raised to show respect to people in any setting. It is rare that I get rude unless I have strict reason to be.
I hate the way tattoo shows such as LA Ink portray people in this industry, people walk away from watching shows like that thinking we are all a bunch of hair triggered, God complex having, drama queens. No fucking wonder we are so heavily looked down upon. People cannot seem to take us seriously because we are always portrayed in poor light.
I do not go out of my way to make anyone feel like shit about their appearance, I don't care that you felt you needed to tan until you were orange, or that you wanted liposuction to get rid of some excess fat, why the fuck do you have a problem with my having visible tattoos and body piercings? NONE OF THEM MAKE ME ANY LESS OF A PERSON.
I stand very strong on this subject, too many people are far too caught up in the way other people appear. The way I look should not be offensive to you in any way, I am not hurting you by decorating my body to my liking, but the way some people look at me because of my appearance is down right disgusting and rude.
ALWAYS REMEMBER....WHEN YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE WAY SOMEONE LOOKS IT IS YOUR PROBLEM, NOT THEIRS
