Jesus. Explain this to me...for years I suffer having a dial up connection, I was online as much as I could possibly be. Now that we're finally equipped with high speed cable connection, I have no fucking time at all, and I'm barely on the damned net. I really hate how this turns out. I mean, do I have to wait til I get a holiday off from work so I can have time to go online, write a journal, respond to e-mails, leave comments, and CHAT for crissakes? TIme is a slippery bastard. It seems I can never get any, nor can I use it.
Anyways, Happy Holidays everyone. Whatever that Holiday may be for you. Even if you don't celebrate any of the December holidays, enjoy whatever freebies come your way. and if you don't get prezzies or freebies or cookies or sommat, at least be glad that tomorrow is the last day for another 11 months that you'll have to stomach Christmas music.
Movies I can't watch
What's goin on? Just watched "Big Fish". I've noticed a pattern. The last 3 movies that made me bawl like a baby at the end were The Royal Tennenbaums, Igby goes down, and Big Fish. Which makes the point clear, I have to have a chat with my dad. Or else, after he kicks it, I'm going to be a fucking mess whenever "Cat's in the Cradle" is played on an oldie station. It's strange how the one person I don't want to talk to (and, really, CAN'T talk to) is the one person I HAVE to talk to. It's one of those things that neither of us knows how it started, but whatever it is it has to be addressed.

Gah. Only been mildly productive on the artistic front this month. This was supposed to be a catch up month, I was going to clear my plate so I could focus on comics from here on out. I only cleared about half of the projects I wanted to, and how have a week before I promised myself I'd be done with em. Some don't really have deadlines, but some are WAYYYY past due. I should remind myself that while it's cheaper... drawing illustrations as gifts for people is NOT an easier road to take.
Firstly, the worry is way high. For an illustration that someone pays for, it's a business transaction. Not much stress. You do the work that your client is expecting, and no more (unless they're paying more)
But an illustration that you are going to GIVE to someone, the stakes are higher. As an artist, you want to put together the best fucking piece of art that you are capable of. And when you sketch it out, or finish it...and it doesn't live up to your lofty goals... well, from your perspective it's not good enough is it? Nah, gotta do it over. make it better. Then, before you know it, it's a year later, and all the versions still aren't as good as you want them to be.
Ah. anyway.
