Hot damn, what a weekend.
The first weekend home after a kickass and much needed vacation (in Boston MA), I come home to two paychecks (which made back about 2/3 of all the money I spent on the trip ), and a Bachelor/Bachelorette party on Saturday (good food and much drinks, and lots of agressive air hockey and foozball)...
And Sunday I drew and drew and drew...while watching a freaking amazing video a friend of mine let me borrow...
Fugazi: Insturment.
Really interesting visual and audio salad. A lot of it was shot by Jem Cohen, it was all sorts of stuff. a Punk Potpourri of live shows, interviews, and my favorite bit was filming people in the lines, waititng to get tickets/admission.
They were shown after a comment was made that they play for the people in the audience, that ther'es a connection. After that comment, they started showing the footage of all the fans waiting in lines. (they showed a few more groups of poeople in lines throughout the whole video)
What facinated me, was that as each video portrait was on the screen, I started thinking, "What kind of people are they?" I started thinking what types of lives they might live. Why they're at teh show, if they took a day off from work or school to see it...If they have a home, if they're happy, if they're sad, if they are there for a different band, If they had anything to eat before the show...
After that, my mind was enveloped in the film. I felt like i was there...just hovering in the room, or in the car, or wherever the camera was capturing movement. It was a really kickass film. It sort of just wanders around the history and lives of the members of and fans of Fugazi. Not invading the space...just sort of hanging around.
Good good good. I'm not looking forward to giving it back to my friend...
Anyway, good times. Work still sucks, but the pain is lessened because of the vacation. it's not as soul crushing.
and I'm done. G'night everyone!
