Above All Else
The Serial Blogmoirs of Christov Smith
Part 1
First off, in my first blogmoir (Memoir/Blog), I will tell you all a little about myself.
My name is Chris Smith and I'm from Vancouver(ish) British Columbia.
My dad died of cancer when I was 15. Holy crap, that was 9 years ago.
I have 2 older brothers. No sisters.
I love video games, I play when I can. But I collect a lot. I'm not a fanboy of any company, but a video game fanboy in general. Nintendo, Sega, Sony Microsoft. They're all my homeboys.
I own nearly every game console that any normal person can name. Though, I can name a few I don't have (and that's probably the easiest way to do it.)
I love cats.
I used to collect books, but my collection outgrew my space, and now its in storage. I never had time to read them anyways. Hopefully someday.
As of April 11th 2013 I will have been with my girlfriend, Sam, for 4 years. Which is more than double the time spent with all my previous girlfriends. I love Sam with all my heart. She is fun, loving, absolutely beautiful, funny, and best of all she loves and accepts me for who I am.
A few things have become very important to me, and have shaped who I am. They may seem strange to some.
-Music. Specifically the works of Dashboard Confessional, The Early November, Something Corporate, and Jimmy Eat World. These were the guys that inspired me to make music, and though, as of right now its been about 2 years since I have written a song, and I barely touch my guitar anymore, this music got me though some of the roughest times of my life, like when my dad died.
-TV. When my dad died, television helped shape my personality, and really helped raise me. I think I turned out okay. I watched a lot of Simpsons, Futurama, King of the Hill, Family Guy, South Park, and a number of other shows.
-Screwattack.com Yup its a video game website, but what really stuck with me was The Angry Video Game Nerd. He is a big reason for my video game obsession now. I always loved video games, but there was a time in my life when I got fairly depressed, and I really didn't like anything. The AVGN made me laugh, and reminded me of crappy old games I played on the NES. Anyone who has good memories of NES games should check him out! Its hilarious. He even made a feature film, which is in post production now. The man, James Rolfe, behind the AVGN is also the man who got me obsessed with Horror movies. Every October he does this series called Monster Madness and he does quick funny reviews of Horror movies. He has since moved his AVGN videos to his own website with all his other stuff, as well as Youtube. - Screwattack is a website based around personalities. There's a very small crew running the site, and they focus on video content. They have a number of ongoing series done by their own staff. But they also have partners who don't actually work for the site, but share their videos on the site (like AVGN). My favourite crew member was ProJared, but he left the site recently, to do his own thing. That was a sad day for me, as I love the entire crew, but Jared made everything better. With him not there, I feel disconnected. But at least he has his won thing going on Youtube.
-SuicideGirls SuicideGirls is a more recent thing for me. I discovered the site in February 2012. I've known of it for a long time, but never really thought anything of it. One day I discovered a bunch of pics online, I think most of them were Alissa or Cherry pics. I fell in love with it. So I found I had some money to spare and I forked out some cash for a membership. After being on the site for a while I was overwhelmed with the amount of love and acceptance I saw. To this day I don't think I've seen anything negative. I also heavily support what they stand for. I'll let their sticker speak for itself...

Most of what I talked about in this Blogmoir will be expanded upon further in other Blogmoirs. I just wanted to give everybody a bit of a feel for who I am.
Thanks you for reading about me, everyone!
