The dream, the goal, the reward, whatever we call it, most of us have this picture in our mind of what it is we are working towards. But to borrow a cliche, and yes, everyone has said it, the journey is much longer than the experience of finally arriving at our destination.
Since 2006, I had this dream of becoming a writer. Why not? I have a creative mind, can read people and have absorbed so much adventure via movies, TV shows and books that I had a feel for having a shot at writing a book. What's more, I had this idea of a multiverse that I thought was fantastic.
Fast forward to 2014. I had made quite the network on Facebook with fellow writers, added some great contacts and finally finished my first book. Then NaNoWriMo came and I started another book, wrote the first draft in 6 weeks. Over time, I have published 8 books, 5 of those with a co-writer. There have been highs and lows, but recently, I got word that a short story that my friend and I wrote was accepted in an anthology. So is this the beginning of the start of success?
No. Success is something we always taste, as well as failure. So the goal I believe is to experience the journey and make friends, enjoy the highs and learn from the lows. And if you have that burning flame inside you, don't extinguish it, let it power you.
