Thumbing through a guitar catalog I came across a line of guitars labeled "Road Worn". "road worn"
This got me thinking. Acid Washed Jeans, Faded Shoes, faded t-shirts, and now Fender Road Worn Series.
What the fuck is happening?
Joe Strummer, I love you, but I don't want your rust marks and pic scratches to be copied onto MY guitar! Certainly my pair of pants will wear themselves down nicely. The fact is, us humans are dirty creatures, and our pants get filthy. Is this some sort of cover up to disguise the fact that we really don't give a shit about rips in our jeans? Casual or not, sometimes I like wearing clothes that are not tattered and frayed. Also, some of my holes tell stories. A rip from a fence, a tear from an exacto knife, a bullet wound sustained from a violent postal shooting. These are my stories.
When I make a purchase for something BRAND NEW, it had better damn be in the best shape possible. If I want something pre-worn I'll go to Goodwill and spend 5 bucks, not 50 at Hollister.
The proper way to Fade a t-shirt, WEAR IT!!!!
Thank you very much.
