How have you met most of your friends and lovers?
For me it used to always be through work or school but the place I have been working for the last 8 years only employs 6 people including myself, seriously limiting my prospects. I should also mention the fact that they have almost always been guys in their late teens, early 20's, so that rules out lovers right there, and more than likely any lasting friendship (they are great guys but I am 40 with 2 kids, and come this August I will be officially divorced from a 13 year marrige/15 year relationship...). Though I may be returning to school in the not too distant future, I have been out of that world for many years. I don't much care for hitting on customers, it's fine if they hit on me but I am very against putting customers in a potentialy uncomfortable situation. As far as making friends with customers, not sure what to say other than that it has not panned out. It doesn't help that I am fairly shy and have a hard time engaging people in conversation.
Anyhow, your thoughts on this, personal experiences, tips, humorous anecdotes, etc., would be greatly appreciated.
This past year has forced my hand in making changes in my life (mostly good) and I want to keep on that track.
