UPDATED! GIANT UPDATE ON GORE'S GOINGS-ON! HUGE NEWS! Comic Con, lotsa pitchers, Nerdi Gras fans, I'm a Starz, Nurse Joker makes a mess on me that I don't like very much, my new piece plus going batty...
Huge news? Not really, but if this random series of thoughts, photos and observations seems a bit all over the place bouncing from topic to topic, well, then you know what it's like to have a conversation with me. Friends that know me offline can confirm this is exactly what it's like. So, on that note... let us begin!
Alice and I were spotted at the G4 party and here's proof...
Yes, I "work" with Alison Haislip at G4... she's a total pro...
Zach Selwyn is the funniest dude on G4 -- give this guy his own show!
On Sunday I hosted a movie trivia contest at the G4 booth... and could barely talk... my voice was shot by then...
Nerdi Gras can get a bit crazy. My room at the Hard Rock became THE place for wild Comic Con parties! Um. Okay, I swear they were wild, but this is the one time everyone look bored at once...
I met friends in San Diego's Gas Lamp for after Con fun... Yeah, they even still talk to me! jeremyscareme, Amina, and some dude named Misha... I think.
Alice bought this cute-tacular coat that she made me try on in a game we like to call... Sexy or not?
A Comic Con tradition is getting drunk by the Marriott pool on Saturday... and then going drunk shopping. What's really fun is the next day and seeing what you bought!
One is for cuddling... and the other for having a body party...
The cosplay options with an Ugly Doll suit like this seem limitless...
Yeah, I know Lego Batman. Cool dude.
My favorite costume at the Con was this dude dressed as "Nurse Joker"...
Here's some fan art of the Attack of the Show team by Eric Gravel that were made into posters. Guess who was left off? Ah, the benefits of being on the "B" Team...
Eric Gravel made it up to me by creating this piece of art featuring yours truly as a Super Hero. Yay! Fan art!
Speaking of art, I bought this piece at the i-am-8-bit Art Show last week. Yeah. That's right. I buy art every once in awhile. Anyway, the references to games like Space Invaders and Tetris among others was reason enough to snap it up, but the real reason I went after this piece was because it reminds me of someone I like a whole lot...
I mentioned recently about my appearances in upcoming documentaries. One of them is about gross-out comedies called In The Gutter and it airs on Starz this month. I offer my thoughts on everything from the films of John Waters (who is also in the doc), milestone films like Animal House and 2 girls 1 cup. Yeah. It's not bad. Y'know, check your local listings.
I saw this poster at my local Bank of America and it struck me that punk is so mainstream now, it's a target demographic for, ulp, banks...? What can you say about this except that Mandy Morbid could be the new spokesmodel for BofA... which I kinda like actually.
I've seen The Dark Knight three times and listened to the soundtrack daily since it came out and I have to see it in IMAX again. Yeah, I've got Bat on the brain. Anyway, I'm not one to support crime or defacing property, but this is a vandal I can get behind...
While there's a lot of speculation about the villains or the story for the third Batman film in this incarnation, writer/director Christopher Nolan hasn't confirmed he'll be back for another one. No one can do the Bat justice like Nolan, but I still stand behind my assertion that the third movie should be the end of the Dark Knight. Think of a Nolan-ized take on the Frank Miller graphic novel The Dark Knight Returns with a 50+ year-old Bruce Wayne hiding away in his mansion with Batman officially retired. That is, until something happens that requires Batman to come out of retirement one... last... time... And like Batman Begins the story can bounce from a present day tale to one from the past that deals with why he hung up the cape, kind of like Godfather II. Think of it, Robin doesn't even have to be in the movie, but Bruce can discuss his "old chum," and all the villains that could be referenced along the way implying a long history -- you could even have some giant penny hid away in the corner of the cave. Anyway, I talked about it in a recent DVDuesday. Anyway, a fan made this very impressive poster for a third DK movie that is truly done in the spirit of Nolan's vision. I will say that I think the Riddler has always been kind of a lame villain. Give this a look and, heck, spread rumors if you like...
(Oh, and speaking of DVDuesday, I also went on a rant about the fact that Olivia Munn would be great in the Tura Satana role in Tarantino's planned remake of Faster Pussycat, Kill, Kill. )
And finally, after seeing Super Size Me just the smell of McDonald's makes me kind of sick. I only ever eat there if I have to and when there are no other choices, which usually happens at airport layovers during travel. However, if they upgraded their clown, I might return.
Okay. I'm gonna go lay down now. I'm gonna lay down. Okay.
