Just got back from Washington D.C. and boy, did paranoia set in when around very important memorials and museums... I kept thinking the CIA was listening in on my thoughts, but then a voice in my head told me it wasn't true so I guess nothing happened.
Not surprisingly I'm rather disenchanted with my current government and didn't really care to be there... although the sites what I enjoyed the most were the WWII, Vietnam and Lincoln memorials. The Holocaust museum was good too, although actually seeing the train people were carried in and other actual things had a stronger impact on me than reading everything.
The national archives were interesting; again paranoia seeped into my pores. And I made a nice comment to my brother when viewing the Bill of Rites: "Well, it exists on paper". Sadly, that's about the only place it exists and probably only place it works.
The supposed 5 Star hotel we stayed at... was more of a 3 in my opinion. The bed broke my back each night, the food was stupid expensive and the TV was crap. But the bathroom was awesome! View, so so.
Metro was fun... crossing the street; interesting... I've seen a few people cross when the light is still green, but not like in DC where almost everyone crossed when the little red hand was clearly lit. Madness I tell you!
I'm just glad to be back home, CA is a crazy place but at least I'm used to this kind of crazy.
