It's amazing how freeing it is to throw things away.
I think I'm a pack rat. Not as bad as those ladies that go on Oprah every once in a while, who have to buy a second house to store every single thing they've ever owned, who tear up at the sight of a decade of newspapers going into the trash and have to be physically restrained by their browbeaten husbands so that they don't jump into the trash truck after their broken china they "may need one day." I just like to hold onto things. Letters. Ticket stubs. Old school work. Poems, word games. Memories. Shit I don't need. I have been going through everything I own and throwing out things that, even a year ago, I would have kept. And it feels fantastic.
In fact, a year ago, I DID keep all this shit. I moved a year ago, and I am moving again in a little over 3 weeks. I *hate* moving. I dislike packing, unpacking, dealing with renting a truck, carrying heavy shit. But I'm pretty excited about it this time because I am moving to Los Angeles. Finally!
It's going to be a fantastic summer.

And yes.. I felt very "fight club" when I moved out of my townhome. I threw away 3/4 of the shit I owned and gave away all my furniture. I moved in with a friend for awhile. And then when I moved out of there and into a new apartment, I took all my stuff, just to leave 3/4 of THAT behind three months later when I moved out of that apartment. (well, vacated is more like it, hahaha.) But it was kind of amazing to just get out with my cat, my clothes, my computer, and all my personal files. That was it.
Stuff if stuff. You can always get more later right?
