BACON EXPLOSION!
Note: Some pictures are too big, so right click and view image to see the whole thing.
So my house is hosting a cookout today and for my contribution I decided to put together and cook this mess. So I bought 3 lbs each of bacon and sausage last night and assembled it this morning. I also documented most of the process so far.
So here's the first step. As I say in the video it's the only thing that spending time at summer camp earning my basketry merit badge has ever been useful for.
Next step was separating the sausage from its casing, which was only slightly homoerotic.
Then the sausage had to be spread over the bacon weave, which had since had BBQ rub applied to it
Here's the sausage on top of the bacon weave.

Then we had to cook up the rest of the bacon, and of course eat some of it as we cooked it. Most of what was left was then placed on the sausage and drizzled with BBQ sauce and some more rub.

The last thing for assembly was to just roll it up into one delicious 4.5 lb package of pork.

I'll post the finished project once it's cooked and being eaten later today. Well, I might if I actually survive eating it.
UPDATE: COMPLETED PRODUCT AND RESULTS!
Here's the Bacon Explosion right after it finished cooking. It is indeed a thing of beauty.

And the consequences of said bite:

Here's what was left of it after the BBQ ended. A lot more was eaten than I thought would be. I thought everyone would be scared away by the threat of heart attack(see above):
