hello podlinigs!
i am typing today's entry in all lower case in memory of the brave service of starryeyed's left shift key, which does not work. what's your excuse?
as you may have guessed, i am in new york for a bit, and starryeyed has been so kind as to put me up. thanks much!
i am here for two reasons:
1. a close friend of mine was doing a benefit concert/afterparty in connecticut this past weekend
2. on thursday, i have to take a big scary music theory test that i'm not at all prepared for. i have to do well because if i don't i will be behind, and that would be unfortunate.
the benefit went off beautifully, and the party afterwards was magical. a whole bunch of people i only get to see like once a year if that. i'd managed to alienate a couple of people without even realizing it, and i think i made some new friends out of old ones, if you catch me. it was... nice. it's the kind of group you can't really describe, only experience. while the interpersonal relationships can sometimes get complex, the love never is. i... i think i have something in my eye.
so now i'm in new york. i should be studying, but y'know... i'm a huge procrastinator and all. yesterday i went and found the dorm i am living in next year. ohmygod i feel like i just won the lottery. are you ready for this? my new dorm is:
1. less than ten minutes from where i'll be taking all my classes
2. directly adjacent to an opera house (which is somewhat significant for a guy who's majoring in opera)
3. literally three doors down from cbgb's.
yes. three doors down from cbgb's. yes, that cbgb's.
so i'm pleased. today i should be having lunch with an old school acquaintance, and perhaps going out to long island to visit my grandpa. most excellent.

I believe I spilled whiskey on that side of the keyboard.
