Long Hair. I've spent over a year trying to obtain it. I like my hair, it gets quite a few compliments, and my wife is damned possessive of it. ::grins::
The thing is, though, I don't know if it is me, anymore. I look in the mirror, sometimes, and I don't recognize myself in it. I grew my hair out because I had alwaus wanted to be able to pull it into a ponytail, ever since HS, and only after my wedding was I able to truly grow it out. It was a goal, a point of honor, as silly as that sounds. I was GOING to do it.
And I did. and I wonder, "what next?" Do i set some silly goal like "I won't cut my hair until I get my bachelors? That seems rather pointless. And there is only so much a guy can DO with long hair. Loose, ponytailed, braided...and that's about it. Well, pigtails, but that's not my thing.
So, i occasionally bring it up to R. Dominique, and she gets this...look on her face, so I let it go...
But eventually, my outward appearance will have to give way to who I feel I've become.

I go through mood swings with my hair. I change the color almost biweekly...so I understand your feelings.
