Had a great moment in a theory class today...We were discussing Plato's heirarchy (metaphysical, material, image, simulacrum, simulation) and how it applies to the visual arts and my prof. who's a very dry britt offered the best example of simulation, "Think of simulation as a McDonalds hamburger..where once burgers had a direct relationship to a single cow, now they are the combination of bits and peices of at least 50 cows, leaving them with no original source and are thus a total fabriaction or recreation of a reality that doesn't exist and therefore not a burger at all.
EWWWWWWWWWW...nasty thought huh.
