Found myself a right decent comix store here in Austin. Managed to find the next 'Preacher' graphic novel, along with a new one - Y: The Last Man. Quite the good read, this comic. Basic premise: one day, something - a virus? - wipes out every male on good ole planet Earth. Male humans, male ducks, male ferrets, male lions... all of 'em...
Except for one young man named Yorick, and his pet monkey, Ampersand.
Women inherit the earth. A number of them, including a secret agent, the former Secretary of Agriculture (now President of the US), an Israeli soldier, a brilliant expert on cloning, and a paramedic begin to put things together from the chaos. And the last man?
All he wants to do is find his girlfriend in Australia. See, he proposed marriage just before the shit hit the fan, and he'd really like to know if she said yes. No one's sure why he survived (or his monkey). No one's sure if the world can be repopulated again, or if male anything will ever return. No one's even certain if Yorick is indeed the Last Man standing. So many wonderful mysteries to be solved!
There's lots to be found in these pages. Dark humor, social satire, the role of gender, and more. Good writing and art, too. Well worth the money! The first 5 issues are collected in this volume, and I believe there are but a few more issues after that. Should be fairly easy to find at Yer Friendly Neighborhood Comix Shoppe.
I'm jealous, personally. Yorick has a planet of women to himself, AND a pet monkey. I should live so long!

I never got past superheroes, really. Except for NEAT STUFF, HATE, JIM, and some other sundry Fantagraphics stuff.
I wish I could speak more intelligently about comic books. But alas, my current budget does not allow for yet another vice.
