I saw Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals tonight and i can honestly say it was the most moving, most incredible concert performance i've ever seen. It was really difficult to take your eyes off of ben harper as he owned the stage in his suit and seem to personally invite each individual at teh concert hall into his own world of music. his amazing skills with the slide guitar, piano and lyrics were inspiring. At times his music had a religious tone to it that had everyone on their feet. He collectively drew each individual in so closely that the crowd, together, leaned thier bodies towards the stage as if to see and hear him better when he stepped away from the microphone to sing alone. It was when he appeared back in front of the microphone with the crash of the music starting and the lights going up in a redish hue that you realized for just that one moment, time didn't matter and the only thing encompassing you music! It was one of only a few concerts that i can think of where i walked out of the concert hall feeling fulfilled and better than i did walking in. I would have given ABSOLUTELY anything for this experience to have been shared with the person i care so much for, but life is fickle and sent us in other directions tonight, so i shared it with a crowd of thousands.
