A different Sunday, fun and spreading environmental awareness.
October 13 last Sunday was International E-Waste Day. For those who do not know, Brazil is the leader of e-waste production in Latin America; in the Americas, Brazil is second behind the United States; and is in seventh place in the world behind China, the United States, Japan, India, Germany and United Kingdom.
I believe many of us have a sense of technological development in every respect, but we also need to learn about how much of the disposal we do and if we do it correctly. There are still many people who are unaware of the amount of waste they produce and what improper disposal can cause.
I am very happy to see more and more people getting interested in sustainable issues. Because it generates initiatives that generate awareness and willingness in people to help the environment in some way.
So this year, The "Faces Festival" had its first edition, in the capital of Brazil, in order to raise awareness. The event brought 90 exhibitors of natural products, from natural cosmetics to "slow fashion" accessories.
In addition to the exhibitors, came groups and singer for the event. Among them were a Patubate Group, which has like most of its musical instruments made by its members with recyclable materials.
I could not take pictures of the exhibitors due to low battery, but the day was beautiful and as I arrived early, there were still few people.
Another music artist I really like and who was at the event was Lenine, who is a Brazilian singer, songwriter, arranger, multi-instrumentalist, lyricist, actor, writer, music producer, chemical engineer, and ecologist. In other words, he is not only an excellent artist, but is always linked to environmental movements, a great environmental activist.
And finally, I wanted to say that the entrance to the event was accessible, really to get people's attention, and those who took junk, paid half a ticket. It was a warm, clean and mindful event in every respect.
Oh and the collected material was donated to the NGO Programming the Future, based in Valparaiso (GO).
