I was born and raised in Houston. I work at a doctors office that is literally next door to the hospital where I was born. I am not used to cold weather. That being said, I can run laps when it's 115 degrees, but under 50 and I'm an cherish-cicle. It is currently 32 degrees outside and we're expecting freezing rain later today and wet snow and sleet tonight. I keep refreshing the page for my school to see if they'll cancel. I have to go down a super slippery road to get there and if there is any ice, I'm not going. They can't make me. I know, i'm a pussy. I just don't have any experience driving on ice and I drive a 98 civic with no traction control.
Oh, and note to all. If you need a referral to see a specialist that is decided by your insurance. Not the specialist. If there is a doctors name on your insurance card; YOU CAN NOT GO TO A SPECIALIST WITHOUT A REFERRAL FROM THAT DOCTOR. The specialist office cannot get it for you, the primary care doctor will laugh at them and put it off for 100 years or say they've never seen you before. So do not show up at my office blinking in confusion and wondering why you need one when you've been on the same HMO for 2 years.
I made him call the PCP instead of me doing it for him. Maybe he will learn this time.

I mostly agree with you about the referral but keep in mind if the sHMO had rules that made sense then it would be easier to explain them to morons.
