So I guess I'll write a short update.
Hi. I'm back. Thanks again to whoever gave this to me. If you could send me a message (if you aren't a coward lol) I'd appreciate it. What have I been up to for the past like.....two years? Geez. Leeeeeet me think.
I went to Dominican Republic for a month last May-June for volunteer work/tourism. It was amazing. I'll post the photobucket on here sometime so everyone can see the photos. Some of them are on my facebook, so I'll try to figure out how to post a link to my photo albums. There were around 20 something of us from all over the place. Half U.S., half Canada. The first two weeks we helped build a sidewalk in this tiny town with the reputation of being "ghetto, poor, uneducated, and dangerous" when really, the people were great. A dream project built an elementary school for them, so we built a sidewalk from the middle of La Mina to the school so the little kids could get there safely. The roads are CRAZY. No one follows the road laws, at all. We also helped the little kids in the elementary school. I remember one kid in particular. He knew how to add using numbers 1-5, but he didn't know how to subtract. I totally taught him how to subtract and it made my day. We also created a summer camp every day for the older kids who didn't get to go to school. I was always in charge of the art section. I think they really enjoyed it. The second two weeks is when we traveled around the entire country. I got to go to about 7-12 different locations. I went rappelling into caves, white water rafting, jumped and slid down waterfalls, you name it. It was a great time. I wish I could tell all the details, but I'd never stop typing.
I'm still at BSU. I'm a junior. I'm living with my semi-friend, Liz, right now. I can't afford to live here anymore so I had to find a cheaper, not so nice house for next year. I found one today, luckily, with a strange girl I've only met once. She's really nice, and the place is decent for the price. I'm excited. I'm still studying advertising. Yesterday I claimed a sociology and women's studies minor. Woot.
I'm in the BSU AAF (American Advertising Federation) chapter, and we've been working on a national campaign all year, and on the 16th, 36 of us get to go to Detroit to compete in regionals against other college and universities to see who came up with the best campaign. I'm really proud of what we came up with. We did everything, media planning, IMC, production, creative, you name it. It turned out AMAZING. I'm really excited about going to Detroit. I've never been, and I worked my butt off in order to make the list of people who get to go. I even went out and bought a suit to wear on the day of presentations because a bunch of professionals will be there....and we HAVE to look nice. My suit reminds me of that woman in the music video....Eurythmics, sweet dreams (are made of these).
Lets see.....I'm still seeing this guy off and on, Brian. We've been "together" since March 2007. We're planning on taking a road trip to Tennessee in May. We were originally going to go to Wisconsin Dells to go to the water parks and so on, but we figured it would still be kind of cold in May, so we're heading south instead. It's still about the same drive time.
It's like....3 am right now. I had a headache earlier after my AAF meeting, so when I got home I took 3 excendrin and went to bed at 10. I woke up around 1:45 with the jitters and decided to get online lol.
I got a dog. I used to work at the petsmart by BSU, and on Saturdays the humane society would bring dogs into the store and try to adopt them out. I saw mine one day and decided I had to get her. I got her when she was 4 months and she'll be 2 in May. She's a schnauzer/poodle mix. She's black and I named her Ava. She's a sweetheart and totally miss attitude. Her personality rocks. Last time I got her groomed I had them give her a mohawk lol. She's my little rocker dog. I'll post a picture of her on here sometime for everyone to see. Right now she's passed out at the end of my bed. She takes up my leg room so I sleep in funny positions since she's always in my way
I turned 21 a few weeks ago, FINALLY. It was really nice. I went to dinner at a local bar with my parents, family and family friends. Then I left around 9 and met up with a few friends and went out. My bday was on a Friday, so I went to downtown Indy and went to Tiki Bobs and Have a Nice Day Cafe. Saturday I went to Broadripple and went to Ally Cat (Awesome!) and Vogue (awesome! lol)
Those are my two favorite places to go. I wanted to go to the Vogue this Saturday, but I have to work. Bleh. Maybe next weekend lol.
Anyway, I'm going to try to get back to bed. I have to be up at 7:30. I hope everyone has an awesome weekend. Be safe and seriously, hit me up, send me a message or something. It's been forever. I want to see how everyone is doing.
