Last night, all was well. Within 10 minutes the Las Vegas sky was black, and a storm was not only brewing, but PISSED. What we were encountering was our first thunderstorm of the well known desert monsoon season. This was unlike anything I had ever seen. If I had not been governmently notified (Hi, Big Brother) I would have thought all the witches crept from their crypts and evil was taking over the world.
As the sky turned black, it wasn't long until the winds came. Steady at first, the neighborhood turned into a dust bowl. Following shortly was the unmistakeable smell of rain hitting the hot summer asphalt. Hell hath no fury as this storm, as it quickly grew to pouring rain, and 71 MPH wind gusts.
As a native Las Vegan, we praise these miracle summer showers... But this storm was something I have never experienced. My girlfriend and I huddled on the patio as the Dominatrix in the sky clacked her huge bull whip (thunder). My ear drums burned with the sound of thunder so close, quickly followed by lightning, not only in the clouds but hitting the ground and various buildings on the Las Vegas strip.
It wasn't until this morning I saw the real devastation the storm caused. MY NEXT door neighbors house was completely destroyed. This 50 year old pine had enough and snapped in half, crushing a late 80's steel bronco and sending branches through the roof. (See photo below)
I traveled to my nearby grocery store, and almost every tree was pulled from the ground.
What I learned - Mother Nature is fucking PISSED, or them bastards are getting real hyped on chem trails.
