Well, the in laws have descended and the children are all a twitter. Even the dog is extra hyper and she is usually just a lump. I am so glad the wife took her trip it was well worth the temporary brokeness. She came back in very good head space. That will all be torn asunder by a week with her mom but at least she started off on the good foot. She needed to get out of town and drive for a while. She also needed to see some of her good friends and have real unguarded conversations with other adults. And who couldn't use a little time holding a baby that you get to give back when you tire of it or into stinks ?
Work is nuts. I didn't get to hire the guy I wanted because in our drunken Spanglish conversation I understood him to say he wanted to work mornings and he wants to work nights. So instead of a Guatemalan prep machine they want to hire some lady that has only worked as cake decorator. Could we stand to up our dessert game yes but what we need is a good prep cook that doesn't mind doing dishes. The gm is making me interview her before they hire her. She wants it to be a hard interview what ever that means. The people the other chefs like to hire are Joliet juco culinary grads with no experience because that's what they are. I just hire people that have had multiple jobs and have good attitudes. That is why everyone I have hired is still there and most of their hires quit in the first week. I am ready for the owner to get back from vacation.
Tax man cometh tomorrow supposedly which is good because we need to go to the store. Her parents don't ever eat out so we do a lot of cooking when they're around. This is all the blogging I can stand to do on my phone. Have fun SG

for about three days at a time.
& aye, it sounds like the kitchen field is fairly universal. Spouse works for a good friend of ours in his restaurant. Staffing, particularly kitchen staffing, seems to be the biggest consistent problem.
