Off on a Friday, that never happens. I spent the morning with Ms. Sun since her school was out for some reason. We had breakfast and packed for the girls trip to Kansas this weekend. They just left so here I am. Tonight I am going down town to see a friends band play. He was in the blue grass band with me and I have not heard this group before. They have recorded and album and played in Nashville a couple times. They also played at the State Fair this year, so I am excited to see what they sound like. They are supposed to be more of a country band so we'll see how they hit me. If nothing else it will be good to get out and have a couple drinks at a bar, it has been a while.
So I looked them up on you tube. That is my buddy on bass.
Here's hoping for a whiskey special.

So I went to the show. It was in a bar that has been several bars in the last few years and this time the stage set up was a lot better but the benches were the rear ends of pickup trucks. The band was good I didn't realize from the youtube pics that the lead guitar player was also a guy I have known since high school. Country they are not, more Americana than anything. They are like the Jayhawks with no harmony vocals. They ended up playing two sets to about thirty people and only made 50 bucks for their efforts. Needless to say that is kind of bogus especially since one of the guys had to drive here from Tennessee to play. In all of the incarnations of that bar they have always payed for shit. When we played there we never made 100 bucks any of the times and we played to rowdy crowds, not there for us, but they were there.
There was a whiskey special, $2 wells and Domestic drafts but the only domestic draft was Bud Light and their well whiskey was foul so I stuck to my $3.50 Beam drinks. TreeThingBlue came down to check it out as well but once the band was over the DJ played loud ass country pop and a shit load of college chicks all wearing the same pink flash dance shirt came in so I made my exit. Growing up in a college town has given me a very low tolerance for sorority girl bull shit and I was just toasty enough to say something terrible to one of them. Discretion is the better part of valor so here I am watching TV.
The girls arrived safely in Kansas and called to say good night. The Ziz may have an ear infection so they will get that checked out before they start making their rounds tomorrow. Well I am off to purve. Have fun SG.

This one is held online through Xbox Live so it's not anything like some of the MLG (Major League Gaming) tournaments or what was shown in The Wizard. It's for a good cause so I'm hoping to have a good time and meet some new people.
