I just got back from The Show and boy am I stoked. The show being a concert, the bands being RxBandits, The Toasters, and Selector. Oh yeah, and Reel Big Fish was there too.
Anyway, the main reason I'm so excited, besides the Toasters and Selecter kicking major ass is that my bandmate, head roadie and I met some really cool people. Yay networking!
You see, I'm the bassist and sometimes singer of a band called The Badguys. (album dropping in june/july) First of all, we met some really cooled guys named Pepe and Augustine, mostly because we were, sadly, among the only people skankin it up old school style to Selecter. We started talking a bit, bought each other some drinks, and found out that Pepe knew some guys in the business, namely Mike Parks of Asian Man Records (not to mention formerly of skankin pickle). So he took us up to meet Mike and kindly talked the Badguys up some, so, in short we hung out with Mike Parks for a while, which was very cool. Even more cool though, was that we talked to the guys from Selecter, Neol Davies the guitarist mainly, and talked to them about our band and stuff and they gave us their email and told us that they were comming back around in october, and that they needed openers. And here's the best part, they said that if they liked our demo then they'd probably have us open for them, how cool is that? Opening for Ska legends, Selecter! I still can't get over it. I mean, they weren't just blowing smoke up our asses, these guys were serious! All in all it was an awsome night. Neol was really, really cool and genuine. Much props to Pepe and Augustine whom we hung out with all night. I should give a link to Pepe's website while I'm on the subject.

Much love to Pepe and Augustine.
Much love to the Toasters.
Much love to Neol and the rest of Selecter.
Also, much love for the Filmore for putting on rad shows.
I guess I'll ranted long enough. I'm just really excited. Whew. Concert high.

PS. Reel Big Fish is cool and all, but they only played like 4 old school songs, so I hardly recognized anything, and all their other songs sounded like all the rest of the radio play crap. Pretty disapointing.

Yeah, the RX Bantits did rock, but the thing was that their musical style was so.... artsy for lack of a better word, that I was more interested in standing there and watching them play then rocking out to them. It was cool though. Their songs were very long and had a lot of change ups. It really reminded me of old school 60 and 70's acid rock type stuff. Way cool. And about the waving arms about and wide eyes, well I'm pretty damn prone to that when it comes to talking about music, I mean, it was hard to type that post with all the arm waving going on.

hahahaha!!! yeah i bet typing was pretty hard for you then. i totally get excited about music too. im not big on the arm waving thing but ill ramble on forever. im such a music freak its gross. when i go to amoeba (cd store in hollywood) i swear i buy at lest ten cds at a time. i just wish i knew someone who shared my same tastes or is open to listening to new bands. i absolutely hate people who wont try new things.
