I'm missing Portland right now. It is the part of the day that I ran out of stuff to do on my own and want someone else. Oh well.
I went to the National Gallery of Art today. It was truly amazingly breathtaking. I didn't even make it all the way through, so I will have to go back. I took a bunch of pictures and will post them as soon as I can. I had to get disposable cameras because I don't have my digital camera anymore, so you have to wait for me to get the film developed! But the gallery was just incredible. I liked it at least as much as the National Cathedral. Those two have been my favorite things in Washington DC so far. I wish my boyfriend was with me for both. He would have loved them at least as much as me, but probably more. I miss him.
But, I met a really nice girl today. She took my number, so I am praying we will hang out. We clicked, so hopefully we can be friends. I want some of those really badly.
I went to a party last night. It blew. I hated it. It was a bunch of snobby girls and drunk assholes. I felt invisible, but I guess that is alright because it was SO NOT MY SCENE! The police came and then a bunch of people left. I was with my roommate and some of her friends. They are all younger than me. They are hard to relate to. We went to another smaller party. It sucked even harder. Every time I tried to talk one of the girls would talk over me. I ended up leaving and walking back to the school. It was way further than I thought. I got home at 2:30am. Anyone that might be concerned that I might be killed on the way home should know that I walked from Bethesda, MD back to my school. It is a snobby rich area... On the way back to school there wasn't even so much as one homeless person. I have walked late at night in downtown Portland and felt less safe.
Tomorrow I am going to the zoo! I am so excited! I love how everything around here is free. It makes it so easy to do stuff. Anyway, I guess that is all. So much for this wasting time.... dammit! Now what am I supposed to do??? Any suggestions? Anyone? Please!!!
I want sushi! There is a place right up the street, but I don't want to be a loser sitting alone in a sushi buffet. I hope a make a friend that likes sushi...
Anyone from Washington DC with advice or who wants to chat or if you are interested in eating sushi...please contact me!
If you haven't already, you should look at my new pics.

I teach art at Maryland to fund my study there, I only have another year left and after that...well who knows. I'd like to teach here a little longer if I can and I need to see a whole lot more of the country!
I walked out on a party or two myself!!! My main problem was that I just cannot get my head around the sorority/fraternity culture thing, if you can call it that! They all started asking me really dumb questions, like if we have cars back in Scotland!
The zoo here is one of the best I think I've been to, the enclosures are really big, I think you'll like it! I've never been to the cathedral though!
I need to make it into DC a lot more!!! There's a few places I've always wanted to go to and some of my friends are real sticks in the mud! If you ever want to go someplace I'll happily tag along! I begin teaching again next week but I'm pretty sure I'll still have time! I'll make a cardboard cut out of myself and place it in front of class with a tape recording of incoherent Scottishness, that'll confound 'em!!
Those falls are beautiful, I love your photos!
